Just yesterday, Chadwick Boseman was nominated for an Oscar for his main performance on Netflix. Boseman sadly passed away in the middle of 2020 after losing her battle with cancer.

Reviews for the feature are generally very positive with a 6.9 on IMDb currently and a 71 on Metacritic.

Some notable critics include Richard Corliss of Time saying Boseman crushed the role: “Embodying James Brown in all his uniqueness, he deserves a Pulitzer, a Nobel and an instant election to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”

Kimber Myers of the Playlist calls the film “crowd pleasing.”

Only US Netflix picked up the film today. As this is a Universal Pictures title, however, it could still arrive in other regions over time depending on the individual contracts per region. In the UK the film is available on Prime Video while in Australia and Canada the film can only be found on VOD platforms at this time.

As mentioned, you can find Boseman in Netflix Ma Rainey’s black background, Da 5 bloods and an oft-overlooked 2016 Netflix Original called King’s Message.
