Onesumore: Harlan Coben Series Available & Coming Soon to Netflix

Harlan Coben is a prolific writer and signed a deal in 2018 with Netflix to adapt many of his novels to Netflix Original productions. Here’s a look at all of the movies and TV shows released so far, and those currently in development.

Before we begin, a little footnote. Although this is not a Netflix original, The five is currently available on Netflix US, originally broadcast in the UK. Also, Safe was produced before the deal, but we’ll include it below as it’s branded as Netflix Original in most parts of the world.

If you are hoping that the Myron Bolitar series will be adapted, which ran from 1995 to 2016 over 11 releases, you are going to be disappointed because they are excluded from the Netflix deal.

Safe

Although Netflix has been the international distributor of Safe, this does not fall under the overall agreement with StudioCanal distributing in France on the C8 channel.

The limited series starred Michael C. Hall who played the role of Rachel’s widow who searches for her daughter and begins to uncover uncomfortable truths about those who live around her.


The foreigner

Richard Armitage (who will star in another Coben project) is making headlines with Sobhan Finneran and Shaun Dooley also starring.


Woods

The original pact stipulated that Netflix would adapt the Coben line of books in multiple languages ​​and it started midway through 2020 with Woods. The limited series grabbed the headlines for being Poland’s second full-length Netflix original.

Starring local talent including Grzegorz Damiecki, Agnieszka Grochowska and Hubert Milkowski, the series followed a prosecutor’s hope of finding answers to his sister’s disappearance 25 years earlier.

The limited series is adapted by Oriol Paulo with Mario Casas, Alexandra Jiménez, Aura Garrido and José Coronado starring.


Stay close

Back in the UK, Stay Close is currently in production shooting in Manchester.

The new 8-episode limited series will be directed by Daniel O’Hara. The original book is located in a more american decor it will therefore be interesting to see how it adapts to its new British setting.

Speaking of the talent chosen for the new limited series, Coben said, “Talk about a dream cast come true – Cush Jumbo, an incendiary and awesome talent; Jimmy Nesbitt, a legendary actor with whom I have always wanted to collaborate; and wow, Richard Armitage is back! And we also have the incredible parish of Sarah ”

Gone for good

Another title currently in production is Gone for Good which will be a 5-episode French-language limited series that began production in September 2020.

Garance Marillier, Nicolas Duvauchelle, Guillaume Gouix, Finnegan Oldfield and Nailia Harzoune are attached to the star.


Run away

This one was announced at the start of the Netflix pact, but we don’t know where it stands. The novel at the time was only due out a year later and since then we haven’t heard what form the Netflix Project will take.
