Onesumore: Judd Apatow Netflix Movie ‘The Bubble’: What We Know So Far
The COVID-19 pandemic has rocked the world in almost every aspect and the film industry is no different. Not only has this caused many cancellations and delays, but has also inspired many writers and producers to create films based either on the pandemic itself or on the various situations it has brought about. One of those productions is Netflix’s upcoming comedy film The bubble, created by Judd Apatow and with Pedro Pascal.
Apatow, who will direct and produce the film, is known for his work on productions such as Girls, monsters and geeks, the king of Staten Island, the 40 year old virgin and much more. The Bubble will be Apatow’s first film on Netflix and the first non-universal production in over 15 years. The screenplay for The Bubble was written by Aparow and Pam Brady (South Park, hamlet 2). The film will be co-produced by longtime Apatow collaborator Barry Mendel under the direction of Apatow Productions.

The bubble is described as “a metacomedy will be about a group of actors and actresses stuck in a pandemic bubble in a hotel trying to complete a studio franchise movie.” According to Hollywood journalist and their sources, The bubble is inspired by the still unpublished Jurassic World: Dominion, which saw its cast stuck in the UK for months during the pandemic lockdown, with production stopping and restarting several times due to positive COVID-19 tests. Dominion is already over, so we can expect a happy ending for The bubble as well as. Netflix insiders, however, say the film has nothing to do with Domination, again according to THR.

Coincidentally (or not), Gillan and Howard are both redheads as well. David duchovny (X files, Aquarius) and Leslie Mann (In blister, Blockers) are set to play a once-married acting duo, forced to self-quarantine under one roof.
The rest of the cast The bubble includes Maria bakalova (Next movie Borat), Iris Apatow (Stunned, funny people), Fred armisen (Presenter, Saturday Night Live), Keegan-Michael Key (Key and Peele, Jingle Jangle), and Peter Serafinowicz (The tick, guardians of the galaxy).

No official release date is set for The bubble from now on, but given the relative simplicity of an action-free, visual effects-free production like this, and Netflix’s eagerness to kick-start production ASAP, maybe we could see The bubble towards the end of 2021.
