‘Riverdale’ Season 5 Netflix Release Schedule: March 2021 Update

Riverdale Season 5 began airing on Netflix internationally from January 2021, but is about to take a hiatus as the show is on hiatus for three months to allow production to catch up. Here is an updated calendar of the date on which Riverdale Season 5 will air worldwide on Netflix throughout 2021, including in the United States.

The series continues to be popular on Netflix around the world. Riverdale featured prominently in Netflix’s U.S. Top 10 shortly after season four dropped between May 15, 2020 and finally left the top 10 on June 11, 2020.

The series has also made it to Netflix’s Top 10 in countries including Germany, France, the Netherlands, India, Australia, Canada, and the UK.

We’ve already had some big news for the fifth season, including Drew Ray Tanner being promoted to series regular plus Erinn Westbrook who appeared in Joy will be introduced as a new character for season 5.

Why Riverdale season 5 started Netflix much later in all regions

Riverdale has been delayed from its usual October release schedule on The CW.

This should come as no surprise as TV series productions around the world have shut down due to COVID-19 and have even seen a reduced number of episodes for Riverdale season four.

Filming for the new season began in August 2020 according to ProductionWeekly, which reports that the series will continue filming in Vancouver, Canada. This didn’t actually happen until later in September 2020, according to sources. The series also stopped production at least once due to issues related to COVID-19.

After a long wait, the show finally began airing in the United States from January 20, 2021.

Riverdale season 5 will have a 3 month hiatus

Episode 1-11 will be released between January and early April, but will then take a three month break according to reports. It’s worth pointing out, as it materially affects when the series hits Netflix.

Riverdale Netflix Original Season 5 Release Schedule

In virtually all of Netflix’s international territories, Riverdale continues and will continue to be a Netflix Original title as Season 5 enters.

As you may know, Netflix is ​​coming out Riverdale episodes shortly after its US premiere on The CW. It will start again in January 2021.

New episodes will air in the US on Wednesday before arriving on Netflix the next morning (usually around 8 a.m. GMT).

When Riverdale will season 5 air on Netflix in the US?

The United States will have even more to wait for Season 5. Season 4 arrived on Netflix about a week after its season finale in May 2020.

With release now pushed back by three months (and the additional hiatus), you can probably expect the new series to arrive on Netflix US in August or September 2021 at the earliest.

However, we can see a surprise addition from the first half (episodes 1-11) added to Netflix in mid-April 2021, similar to how some of the final season of Supernatural hit Netflix. We have no confirmation of this but it is at least a possibility. However, the Americans may have to wait.
