Onesumore: ‘The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3’ Leaving Netflix in March 2021
The beloved animated series The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 from the early 1990s will soon be leaving Netflix.
First spotted by Nintendo Wire, the series will be renewed at the end of March 2021 for several Netflix regions, including the United States and the United Kingdom.
The series is the second existing Mario TV series and has followed Mario and Luigi (two incredibly popular video game characters) to complete different levels, just like you do in the NES video game. Nintendo Wire refers to the series as a “troubled entry into the franchise”.
All 26 episodes are currently scheduled to be removed from Netflix on March 31, 2021 and while the show has already found a new streaming home in the US thanks to the new version of Paramount + from ViacomCBS, we don’t know where it will head in the UK just yet.
You can also find plenty of full episodes streaming on YouTube thanks to a channel called WildBrain which seems to be above the board given that Nintendo is notoriously tough on copyright infringers.
The Super Mario Bros. Super Show !, Another Mario animated series is currently not scheduled to leave Netflix at this time.
Looking at our article covering the Best Kids’ 90s Series of 2018, we can see that a number of great shows from the era will now be gone, including The real Ghostbusters who left in April 2019 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation who left Netflix last month alongside the Power rangers library.
As you may have read over the past few months, Netflix was at one point on several Nintendo projects, including the long rumored Legend of Zelda series. Sadly, it looks like none of those are coming to fruition given the news since Nintendo withdrew from any possible deal. Don’t worry though, Netflix has plenty of other popular video game TV adaptations on the horizon.
Will you miss The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 when he leaves Netflix later in the month? Let us know in the comments.
